Thanks to a very productive collaboration with Mother Nature since Thursday, Crystal Mountain Resort and Spa will open the slopes for skiing and snowboarding Friday, December 11 beginning at noon.

To the delight of many, Mother Nature has shown her face once again bringing the second winter storm of the season and up to two feet of powder is expected by the season’s opening day, Friday, December 11 at Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs and Boyne Mountain of Boyne Falls.

We are continuing to get blasted with colder temps and snow across much of the state, allowing most resorts to kick their snowmaking into high gear. Last Friday's Fall Line Post, Let it Snow, we talked about snow, who was making it and when they planned on being open. Beating out everyone's predictions a number of areas opened up ahead of their anticipated dates including, Boyne Highlands for some free riding on Saturday, Cannonsburg, Bittersweet and Mt. Brighton also opened up. Here's the latest on who's doing what...

Whether you're a skier or a snowboarder you know of Warren Miller, a name that is synonymous with ski films. After 60 years of composing, filming and editing ski flicks, Warren Miller's Dynasty arrived for 2009. We headed caught the movie event hosted by Boyne and the Grand Traverse Ski Club, downtown Traverse City at the Opera House on a snowy Saturday evening.
