Women’s Winter Tour
The 2010 Women's Winter Tour kicks off on February 6th & 7th at host resort Crystal Mountain, located in Michigan's beautiful Benzie County.
This is the 12th year for the event that sets out to benefit a local nonprofit, Active Now, Inc. and the Grand Traverse Women's Resource Center. Active Women Now has helped to raise over $95,000 for the local Traverse City Women's shelter and other local charities.
Welcome Winter Wonder Women!
This year's art theme is Wonder Woman!
We're celebrating the incredible strength of women everywhere. Each woman is unique in the personal challenges they have or are currently facing in their lives. Through these situations women become stronger and develop new powers of dealing with what life throws their way. Here's to strong women and to women helping other women discover their strengths!

What others are saying
This sounds like an awesome event. Never been due to my location, but would definitely support a similar event here. There are so many girls out there that could benefit from strong, positive, athletic female role models. Although Lindsey Vonn has done a lot of the sport of women’s ski racing, local influence can be just (if not more) important.

I went the year before last. One woman, a young 70, brought her daughter and granddaughter. She’d been going every year. The whole event has a “festival for fun” feel to it. And it’s a great way to get outdoors without feeling like you have to be good at anything. Just grab some friends and enjoy.

I heard about the Women’s Winter Tour from WTRV. I had participated many years ago at their old location when I had just started xc. I was looking for low impact exercise after having knee surgery. I was hooked from that point on.
It was time to check it out again. My sister, niece and I drove up to Crystal Mtn on Friday night to make a weekend out of it. They enjoy downhill also, so we split up the day with downhill, cross country, dinner, back to downhill, then a short tour under the stars with xc skis. We slept well Saturday night!
Sunday was great fun. We got a late start because my sister had to get some downhill time in, so we arrived about 11:30am. The food booths at the beginning gave us some energy and a nice warm tummy. They had music going and lots of women of all ages. We set out for the 10K, but I DON’T do hills, so we turned back when the “dangerous” hill was part of the equation. Women were walking with snow shoes, skiing, and just plain having fun. When we got back they still had hot Tomato Basil soup, excellent White Chicken Chili, fruit and veggies, and CHOCOLATE!
After all was said and done we went back to the lodge for more downhill skiing for my sister and niece while I read from the Vista Lounge with a cold beer in my hands. What a great weekend!
