For any of you who couldn’t make it out to the Grand Rapids Ski Film Festival, you missed a stellar night of ski flicks surrounded by beer and good people. If you recall, last month we kicked off the Ski Film Fest tour in Traverse City. Not to be outdone, the Grand Rapids event was even bigger. Co-hosted by Epic Planks Ski Co. the event was held inside the Pepsi Club at 5/3 Ballpark, a venue typically known for VIP treatment at baseball games. However, with temps hovering in the mid-twenties, the Pepsi Club was transformed into a snowsports enthusiasts’ dream. The pub-like atmosphere was filled with tons of swag, sweet skis fromEpic Planks, promos from Crystal Mountain, Boyne Resorts and the GR Ski Club.
Crowds showed up around 6:30, beer was flowing, food was being served and everyone was getting stoked for the season to kick off. At one point during the evening, Boyne announced they would be opening both Highlands and Mountain on Saturday.
Running a similar format to the Traverse City event, things kicked off with Dendrite Studios and their award winning flick, Out of the Shadows. Having watched this film a number of times, it still is amazing the quality footage that Dendrite was able to capture!
During the intermission, the crowd refilled their cold beverages while emcee Regan kept everyone entertained with the swag giveaway.
On to the second flick, Poor Boyz Productions’ Revolver was queued up. This has to be one of the best flicks produced this season and we cannot wait to see what they bring to the table next year.
If you were at the event, check out more pics on Epic Planks Facebook page and don’t forget to tag yourself and we’ll see you at the next event.
