No doubt 2009 was a great year for many of us who enjoy being outside in the winter months and many resorts experienced epic snow conditions!
New Year’s Eve is shaping up to be a good time at many resorts and ski areas across the state. It’s time to gear up, close out 2009 and ring in 2010. Check out the list of ‘what’s happening’ at some of Michigan’s resorts.
Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands:
Both Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands have events and deals planned for New Year’s Eve.
Boyne Mountain has a Family Dinner Buffet from 5-9pm at the Vienna Ballroom inside the Mountain Grand Lodge. Jump on over to their sister resort Boyne Highlands and catch the New Year’s Eve part in the Zoo Bar, with fireworks and a torchlight parade kicking off at 9:30pm.
Big Powderhorn – Bessemer, MI
Give the old year a proper send off at Big Powderhorn as they say farewell to 2009 and ring in 2010 with a torchlight parade at 8:00pm then it’s on to a spectacular fireworks display following the parade.
Caberfae – Cadillac, MI
Get in on the hot lodging deals happening at Caberfae Peaks. Celebrate the New Year at R’Dub’s Pub with music by Brian Roe from 10pm-1am.
Crystal Mountain Resort – Thompsonville, MI
Crystal plays host to a torchlight parade at 11:45pm with an excellent fireworks display to follow. Catch up with friends at the base of the Crystal Clipper for the best view, or stay warm at the New Year’s Eve party inside the Vista Lounge. Shanty Creek Resort – Bellaire, MI
Enjoy free skiing and snowboarding at the Summit from 5-11pm and welcome 2010 with Fireworks at midnight. Don’t forget to catch the torchlight parade at Schuss Mountain at 10:30pm
The Homestead – Glen Arbor,MI
Nestled on the shore of Lake Michigan, ring in the New Year at The Homestead and watch the torchlight parade from the base of Bay Mountain at 8pm.
Marquette Mountain – Marquette, MI
For those of you venturing to the Upper Peninsula, check out ‘glow night’ at Marquette Mountain.
Norway Mountain – Norway, MI
If you find yourself in the western portion of the U.P. stop and take part in Norway Mountain’s family lift ticket special on New Year’s Eve. The special includes 2 adult + 2 juniors for just $99.
Nub’s Nob – Harbor Springs, MI
Enjoy live entertainment by Sean Ryan at Nub’s Pub from 3-6pm then take part in the torchlight parade begining at 6pm at the bottom of the green lift.
Ski Brule – Iron River, MI
Experience the torchlight parade at 9pm with fireworks to follow.
Swiss Valley – Jones, MI
Check out the ‘family style’ party at the Swiss Valley Cafe from 7pm-1am or ‘chalet party’ for adults at the Swiss Valley Chalet from 7pm-1am with food and drink specials all night long and a torchlight parade down the hills at midnight.
