Fresh off of a $4 million investment, Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, MI adds 3 new runs, a new lift and slopeside amenities for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy this season.

New Buck Quad Chairlift

Early this spring Crystal Mountain began deconstruction of the old famed Buck Chair Lift at the resorts far end to make way for terrain expansion and the new Buck Quad Chairlift. The new Buck Quad is a ski-under lift that not only allows access to the new terrain (to skiers right) but also handles more skiers per hour to the top of the hill – a much needed enhancement for that portion of the resort.

New Terrain

Looking out over skiers right Crystal Mountain has opened up the treelines and delivered a gladed area for more challenging runs. Slopes include Buckaroo and Buck Glades – also the new Gorge Glades area will be opened up this season too. The main run, Buck, was re-contoured to make more room at the top of the hill for offloading of the chairlift and a whole slew of snow guns to assist in pushing the conditions further into the season.

Editors Note: We're not gonna lie… those were probably the most underutilized terrain features at Crystal Mountain that delivered hidden stashes of pow if you knew exactly where to drop. While we're excited to see them opened up to the public you're just going to have to follow us deeper into the glade in search of cold smoke…

New Groomer

Crystal Mountain has also invested in a new Winch Cat for the season. This will allow them to push up larger amounts of snow, grooming on steeper terrain (such as Gorge), and assist with prolonging the season.

Slopeside Amenities

Many improvements have taken place off the hill too. The Wild Tomato has undergone a complete remodel, including a new kitchen, new menu that features many locally-sourced, seasonal foods. The Clipper Cafe has also seen its share of improvements with additional seating. Improvements have been made to Crystal's lodging offerings as well. Between the Wintergreen condos, Hamlet and Inn at the Mountain, nearly $1 million has been placed into rennovations and improvements.
