For those of you who missed out last Saturday, we played co-host to the first ever Traverse City Ski Film Festival alongside Epic Planks Ski Co. and Shanty Creek Resorts.  The event was held at the Inside Out Gallery, tucked away in Traverse City’s warehouse district.

We could have not asked for a better location to host the event.  The Inside Out Gallery is a cool spot next door to Right Brain Brewery, providing a chill environment to host such an event.  In addition to being entered into the large swag giveaway, show goers had an opportunity to win a season pass at Shanty Creek.  Which they then surprised us all and gave away two!  Boyne was also on hand giving everyone an opportunity to enter an all expenses paid 2-day trip to their resorts.

Traverse City Ski Film Fest

Around 7pm, the anxious crowd started to file in, getting amped up on Monster as they passed through the venue.  Seeing as though this was a first ever event of its kind, showing two non-traditional films, we were impressed with the number of people that turned out.   The crowd was excellent, with a mix of skiers and snowboarders, all there for the same reasons.  To get pumped on the upcoming season, take in two sweet flicks and snag some swag.  The event kicked off with a few giveaways from sponsors like Giro, Contour, Kicker, yours truly and Epic Planks.

First up was Dendrite Studios’ Out of the Shadows.  A good flick filmed in some truly awesome locations throughout British Columbia and shot on practically a non-existent budget.  In between flicks, more giveaways. Goggles, swag, day passes to Crystal Mountain, frequent skier cards to Boyne Resorts and not to be forgotten were the 2 season passes to Shanty Creek.

Next up was the much anticipated Poor Boyz Productions’ Revolver.  Not to be outdone byOut of the Shadows, Revolver was a great flick with a touch more polish on the cover.  These two films are straight up apples to oranges with Revolver placing a bit more emphasis on newschoolers and urban locations, where Out of the Shadows is a lot of big mountain ripping and sweet pillow lines.  Throw both of them together and you have the making of a good night.

Don’t get too bummed if you missed out on the event.  The show moves to Grand Rapids on Friday November 26th inside 5/3 Ballpark’s Pepsi Club with more swag and giveaways.
