Fresh off the press from Boyne Resorts. An inside look at what's new for the 2013-14 season and the nearly $3 million investment into Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands.

Boyne Highlands Resort

Boyne Highlands is celebrating its 50th season this year, adding 31 Boyne Low-E fan guns, a new PistenBully 400 winch cat, more rental equipment, expanding The Spa, and offering guests a remodeled Main Lodge pool. New rental gear can be found at the Highlands. Expanded rental equipment includes the purchase of an additional 90 sets of Head skis and boots, and 60 new Burton Learn to Ride (LTR) boards for adults and children. The Mail Lodge pool has been entirely rebuilt. It now sports a larger deck and hot tub, plus you can enjoy poolside food and beverage services.

Boyne Mountain Resort

At Boyne Mountain the season will bring 20 additional Boyne Low-E fan guns, a new PistenBully 400 winch cat, new extreme body slide at Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark, renovated Boynehof Lodge rooms, and an expanded fleet of rental equipment. For those looking for off-slope adventures Boyne Mountain is introducing new thrills this winter season with the opening of the first SuperLOOP™  slide in Michigan at Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark.  The hair-raising ride named The Big Couloir features a trap door plummeting riders into the extreme body slide and traveling at speeds up to 38 feet per second before finishing with a splash. Don't forget the long overdue rennovations to The Boynehof Lodge! European vibe, custom artwork and accents abound. Situated at the base of the slopes within walking distance of the village, this could be the best stay at the Mountain this season.

Snowmaking & Winch Cats Galore

It seems like everyone is getting a winch cat this season and Boyne has added 2 to their fleet. Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain each purchased a brand-new PistenBully 400 winch cat groomer.  The groomers’ winch cat feature allows for snow that’s been pushed down the slopes from use, to be pulled back up the slopes so it is more evenly distributed.  The winch feature is particularly helpful on steep terrain.

Those 31 new Low-E fan guns at the Highlands and 20 at Mountain are a part of Boyne's proprietary snowmaking system aimed at delivering high-quality snow at marginal tempuratures – pushing the season well into the spring.
